The Old Mill, Portarlington
|
For those seeking an intimate wedding venue, steeped in history, look no further than “The Old Mill” at Portarlington. It provides a unique heritage-style setting for your ceremony with room for up to a total of sixty guests, and includes on-site parking in the surrounding grounds. If you require a wedding venue with a difference - perhaps with a touch of period influence - then this is for you. Located close to the Portarlington waterfront and town centre, the mill creates a special ambience for a memorable wedding day. This historic building, which was built of sandstone quarried on the site, opened in 1857 to process flour and bran when the Bellarine Peninsula was the granary for the growing colony of Victoria . After operating for 17 years as a mill, it languished for many years before it was acquired by The National Trust in 1970. Now restored, the building is open to the public as a museum and as a very “different” style of venue for special events, including weddings. There are numerous restaurants, hotels and wineries close by with views of the water or the rolling hills of the Bellarine Peninsula , which provide a superb choice for a reception to top off your very special wedding day. This unique venue is located just 25 minutes from Geelong - less than two hours from Melbourne - an opportunity to create a memorable occasion for the wedding party and your guests. |
